The
Vibro-Pile® being tested with a 500 ton jack. Seven
test piles were installed for the initial testing program to prove
the ground, the installation technique and to optimize the design. A
total of 613 production piles were designed to support the 3 foot thick
parking slab, 25 feet below grade
level. With a high water table, most of the piles are in tension, to
keep the 2 levels below grade structure from popping up like a cork.
Initially, driven piles were designed. However, after a value
engineered proposal from August, the design was modified to the Vibro-Pile®,
a proprietary (patent pending) driven displacement CAST-IN-PLACE
pile. The Vibro-Pile® has far superior bonding to the soil vs. a
driven pile, since it's cast in place and pressure grouted using the Vibro-Probe®. |
