The widening of an open channel in
Riverside County by Riverside Construction.
The traditional method of beam
placement is to drill, install the beam in an open hole and place slurry,
or sand into the opening. Sand needs to be jetted for a secure beam
placement. However, the more economical model, especially if the ground is
raveling or caving, is to vibrate a beam directly into the ground for a
secure shoring system. If the ground is too hard to vibrate
directly, predrilling a smaller hole than the outside dimensions of the HP
or wide flange beam is employed. Note: the use of boxes is not a shoring
system, it's only for worker safety and does not assure that the adjoining
ground does not move.
